If you haven’t heard of or haven’t tried Grainstorm baking mixes you should make a trip to the nearest Rowe Farms or order some online. Up until a couple of weeks ago I had never heard of them and certainly wouldn’t have thought that I’d be extolling the virtues of a store bought mix.
But these aren’t your ordinary mixes. They call them “heritage” mixes and according to the package, you’d be hard pressed to bake something healthier from scratch. That’s because they use fresh ground grains, not processed flour that most people use when baking at home. The mixes have 5 or fewer ingredients. I love their tagline…”Bake like it’s 1869.” 🙂
I’ve tried the Golden Kamut Muffin and Loaf mix and the All Oats Oatmeal Cookie mix and they are SO good. The website has tons of different recipes to try with the mixes. For example, the Golden Kamut Muffin and Loaf mix can be either sweet with honey and fruit added, or savoury prepared as cheddar jalapeno “corn” bread.
I have to admit, as much as I enjoy baking, it’s nice to know that there’s a mix out there that’s healthy and easy. 🙂
Note: I have no affiliation with Grainstorm. Just wanted to share something delicious.
